About our cause
The ethos of the company is to reduce, reuse and recycle and aims to change the throw away culture of society today.
By re-distributing people’s unwanted items we aim to address the current wealth disparity between areas of Hertfordshire and regenerate the communities in need.
The company employs local people and creates local entry level jobs. The two high-street shops, including one in Waltham Cross, provide a welcoming and affordable shopping experience and have live demonstrations of Upcycling, in store throughout the week. We run Free Upcycling Workshops for people who wish to learn affordable ways of improving their home, furniture upcycling and reducing carbon footprint.
The Free House Clearance Service is available to all members of the public and third party companies who need furniture and other waste removal. By increasing awareness of our collection service we can help to sustain affords living in poor communities.
Give a Dog a Bone UK CIC has 2 High Street shops. Facebook has had a huge impact on our customer reach. Our customers in store love the excitement of the vans pulling up to the shop. For them they know it means a days’ worth of new preloved items arriving in store. We are recognised for delivering good quality items at massively discounted prices so everyone is eager to have first glance of 'new arrivals'.
We have transferred this excitement into an online friendly format so people can login from home to see what’s new.
Due to our low prices and good quality items our stock has a high turnover. This means that our shops image and layout changes frequently. For this reason people also like to login and see regularly updated pictures of the shops to see what’s new in store.
Brighter more exciting spaces and high streets are needed!!! It doesn’t cost a lot to involve local artists, youths, designers, Councils and leaders to put together a plan for visually brighter towns!!!! Colour, excitement, street performers, events...all of these things are needed to save our high streets. Make businesses compete for the footfall with innovative ways of advertising direct to consumers! In order to make Goliath listen we need a platform and I’m hoping Broxbourne will give us the voice!
Getting communities involved more keeps our towns cleaner, more attractive as people will take pride in their own work and the work of their friends & family. Local graffiti artists and youths can have a creative outlet away from gang culture. We can claim ownership of where we live!
